When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the yogi achieves long life. Therefore, one should learn to control the breath.

Welcome to YogMaya.
What is YogMaya?
YogMaya (my father actually was the one who came up with the name!!) has a variety of origins, most important of which, is being the sister of Krishna, for more information I refer to the wiki.
Under this glorious banner of beautiful YogMaya (I’m Maya by the way…yes, just Maya) I provide private and group yoga services in and around the Denver area.
I’m a Registered Yoga Teacher, accredited by Yoga Alliance. My classes and style foster a safe place, where students can find space within themselves to deepen, relax and find their center. The mode of each class focuses on breath initiated movement, technical precision of alignment and foundation… all while exuding individual flare!
Private classes are individually customized, intelligently sequenced to be safe and authentic with keen attention to complete body and energy alignment. I also provide small group classes, exquisitely sequenced especially for group instruction, remaining faithful to the breath control throughout, the very life source of any traditional practice.
So whether you select private individual therapy or group classes, you will always leave feeling like you just left a proverbial yogic spa. Body is easy, relaxed and settled. Mind is acutely aware, calm and meditative. Breath…. smooth and steady!
What else? Well, at YogMaya you will also be able to browse through some of my favorite places like, the sites I shop, read and browse through the most, I will also occasionally pick out articles that I have found interesting and share to readers. I am an avid traveler and I will sometimes treat you with pics from far off places, under the “Maya the Traveling Yogi” link!
Private clients will also enjoy access to my Clients Only area of the site, highlighting my favorite resources, tips and tricks for your home practice, benefit from any discounts I get as a teacher and much much more!

Why Yoga?
For many centuries, certain faiths have considered Yoga to be the cure for all ailments. Today, as we fly through our lives, battling against its constant challenges, Yoga has become a tool to combat the stress associated with life. Not only have we found that Yoga helps the body, but more importantly provides a distinct channel to access the mind. It is considered that the mind distorts and steers us away from our true Self.
Doing Yoga in combination with meditation and Pranayama has the ability to center and calm the mind. When incorporating the breath with all movement, the powerful unity of body, mind and breath (and maybe even true Self) is attained.
Why Breath Yoga?
For me the merits of Hatha Yoga and Breath Yoga have significantly deepened through my years as a student and now as a teacher . Controlling the breath and providing the mind a single focus through a physical practice initiates tremendous stillness inside.
Breath initiated Yoga has provided me and many of my clients a way to surrender to their breath on the mat, by which encouraging the same still breath off the mat, in daily life.
Yoga is almost like music in a way; there’s no end to it.
